Arthur's Thoughts: Mickey Guyton E.P.

Let me just start off this post like this: Mickey Guyton is fantastic. I've been listening to this 4 song E.P. on repeat for the last week since it's release, and each track is really great. I can't put my finger on it, but Mickey definitely reminds me of another performer, perhaps a bit of Lee Ann Womack? I'm not sure, but something is there!

"Better Than You Left Me," is definitely the strongest track on this E.P., but its very close. Any of these songs could find success on mainstream country radio. "Somebody Else Will" touches a bit on the "pop" end of the country fence, but that doesn't detract from it's quality one bit.

I had already been very excited to see Mickey open for Brad Paisley in a few weeks, but after getting ahold of her new material, the show can't come soon enough! While I don't think more music should be rushed, but anything else that we can get from Guyton will certainly be added to my music collection.

If you have heard "Better Than You Left Me", yet still haven't pulled this trigger on this E.P., DO IT NOW. If there has been any better time to support the most talented women in country music, and Mickey is in that party, the time is now.

(Author's note: I am not a professional music critic. I have no prior training in any sort of music theory, nor do I possess musical talents of my own. I do however, know what I like, when I hear it. While these are my opinions only, I would love to have your feedback. Enjoy!)
